Creating healthy, beautiful, contagious smiles for people of all ages.

Who Are Our Patients?

Beginning at the age of 7, as recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists, children begin to show problem areas that benefit from early treatment. We don't advocate comprehensive orthodontic treatment at age 7, but there are many early interceptive treatments that can have real benefits.  Dr. Garvey uses functional ortheopedic appliances to correct large overbites and cemented expanders to increase space and help improve breathing.

Orthodontic care for teens includes treatments for misaligned teeth and jaws using conventional braces and Invisalign®.

1 in 4 orthodontic patients are adults. Anyone can benefit from orthodontic treatment. Many adults choose orthodiontic care. Dr. Garvey actually had braces at age 55!

Early Braces

Orthodontic treatment in young children is known as interceptive care, and it can begin as early as  6 or 7.

Orthodontic Braces

There are a lot of treatment options these days, from retainers to clear aligners to invisible, metal, ceramic and micro braces.

Braces & Expansions

The purpose of braces and expansions is to create a healthy environment for permanent teeth that will be coming in. Only a few orthodontic problems need correction while a child has baby teeth (overbite, cross bite, open bite, severe crowding.

These are removable clear plastic teeth aligners and they are virtually invisible.

A functional removable appliance, called a 'bionator', can be used successfully in patients who are 7 - 13 years old. These patients have a front to back or anterior/posterior jaw discrepancies, commonly referred to as an overbite.

Jaw Surgery

One treatment option for patients with a severe functional bone imbalance is a combination of comprehensive braces combined with jaw surgery to obtain the best and the most stable correction.

Temporo-mandibular dysfunction, TMD or TMJ, is a condition that causes pain in the jaw and facial muscles, usually due to unconscious clenching or grinding of the teeth.

Oral Hygiene

You, your orthodontist and your family dentist are now a team. You all want the same thing – for you to have a healthy smile with beautiful white, straight teeth.

Corrected Open Bite

An open bite should be corrected because it usually affects the functioning of the mouth.

Sagittal Retainers

Any time the front teeth are in anterior cross-bite the patient should see an Orthodontist immediately!

Schwartz Retainers

An anterior (front) permanent tooth in crossbite should be corrected very early after the 1st molars (6 year molars) erupt.

Braces Vs. Invisalign®

Orthodontic treatment (braces) straighten teeth, create a beautiful smile, and a good bite - meaning straight teeth that mesh well with the teeth in the opposite jaw and look great. A good bite makes it easier for you to bite, chew and speak. With today's technology braces treatment time range from 6-24 months.

Invisalign® is a method for tooth movement that is not too complicated. A set of clear, computer-generated trays is worn 24 hours a day with change-outs every week. One of its best advantages is that the trays are relatively invisible. Invisalign® treatment can be expected to work more efficiently for esthetic purposes rather than for the purpose of improving the functionality of the teeth.

Do it yourself treatment can cause lasting damage. Whether you are considering clear aligners or traditional braces, only seek treatment under the direct supervision of an AAO orthodontist.
